Why We Use AdvanTech Floor Sheathing

The subfloor is the foundation of every finish surface in a home — hardwood, tile, carpet, or otherwise. If it moves, squeaks, or swells, everything on top of it is affected. At Eiger Homes, we specify AdvanTech floor sheathing on every build because it simply outperforms the alternatives.

Beyond What Code Requires

Building codes set a minimum standard — the floor sheathing must be structurally adequate. At Eiger Homes, adequate isn't good enough. We specify a stronger floor system than code requires because the performance difference is significant and the long-term benefits for our homeowners are real.

Strength and Stiffness

AdvanTech is stronger and stiffer than both oriented strand board (OSB) and plywood. That stiffness is what eliminates the subtle flex and bounce that can develop in floor systems over time. A stiff floor feels solid underfoot — and stays solid.

Performance advantages:

  • Greater strength and fastener holding power than OSB or plywood

  • Stiffer panel reduces flex and bounce underfoot

  • Eliminates movement that causes squeaking

  • Supports greater loads without deflection

Water Resistance

During construction, subfloor panels are often exposed to rain and weather before the roof goes on. Standard OSB swells when wet — and that swelling can create high spots and waves in the finished floor that are difficult to eliminate. AdvanTech's water-resistant resin means the panels maintain their dimensions even when exposed to moisture during construction.

A Warranty Worth Having

AdvanTech backs their floor sheathing with a limited lifetime warranty — and it's transferable to future homeowners. That's a meaningful signal about the product's long-term performance.

The Result

Every beautiful finished floor in an Eiger home is built on a foundation that won't let it down. AdvanTech floor sheathing is one of the reasons our homes feel solid and stay solid for decades.

That's #BuiltBetter.
