OUR STORY
The Hands That Build It
Eiger Homes is a small, experienced team — and that's exactly how we like it. When you work with us, you work with people who take personal pride in every detail.
Eiger Homes has roots that run deep in Wisconsin's custom building industry. Chris Rautmann has worked in the craft since 2004 — building on a family tradition that stretches back to 1976. From framing and foundations to client relationships and project management, he has learned every aspect of this business from the ground up.
That experience shaped everything about the way we work: our commitment to quality, our directness with clients, and our belief that a great home is the result of a great process. We started Eiger Homes to bring that philosophy to a new generation of homeowners across Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan corridor.
Where We Come From
The name Eiger is a nod to one of the Alps' most iconic peaks.
It’s a mountain that demands respect, rewards preparation, and stands as a testament to what's possible when you take the long view. That's how we approach every build.
We serve homeowners from Elkhart Lake and Sheboygan in the north to the North Shore communities of Port Washington, Mequon, Whitefish Bay, and Shorewood. Our home base spans Sheboygan, Ozaukee, and Milwaukee Counties, and we've built deep relationships with local Trade Partners, suppliers, and municipalities throughout the region. When you build with Eiger Homes, you're not working with a company that just showed up.
What We Believe
-
We don't cut corners. We take the time to do things right the first time, because that's what separates a house from a home.
-
Custom building is complex. We keep things clear — honest timelines, transparent costs, and no surprises you didn't ask for.
-
Every home we build starts with a deep understanding of how you actually live. We design and build around that — not around a spec sheet.
-
Many of our clients come back for their next project — or send us their friends and family. That trust is the measure of our work.
Eiger Homes was founded to carry forward a tradition of exceptional building — and to do it on our own terms, with integrity at every step.
FOUNDER
Chris Rautmann
Chris Rautmann was born into the building trade in 1976 — the same year his family's Wisconsin home building legacy began. Before dedicating himself to that legacy full-time, he built a career in the corporate world, managing hundreds of millions of dollars in procurement and services at Goodrich Aerospace and Kohler Company. He holds degrees in Management, Economics, and Supply Chain Management from Arizona State University.
Chris joined the family building business in 2004, bringing that depth of project management experience with him. The result is something rare in custom home building — a builder who combines the precision and discipline of global-scale operations with a lifelong feel for the craft. That fusion of quantitative rigor and building artistry means a more organized, more informed, and more enjoyable experience for every homeowner he works with.
Chris founded Eiger Homes to build the kind of company he always believed was possible — one where exceptional craftsmanship, honest communication, and genuine care for the client aren't the exception, but the standard. He oversees every project personally, from the first conversation through the final walkthrough.
